Mike Troubled Diva has had a Very Good Idea. He is compiling an anthology of funny blog posts written by UK based bloggers (and expat Brits) which will be assembled in one week flat, then sold via Lulu in honour of Comic Relief (all proceeds from the book, minus lulu print on demand costs will go to charity).

It’s a very good cause indeed and one which I am only too happy to support. So, I’ll have to dig out a post where I’m hopefully at least moderately funny (and not too long-winded) and get it sent to Mike quick smart. If you are a British blogger and would like to participate, details can be found here. And I’ll put up a link to the book as and when it’s finished.

  1. You haven’t asked for suggestions, but one of my favourites has to be “flattery” with the yellow teeth (11.04.2006). If you don’t want suggestions, just delete the comment.

  2. (wondering if anything I’ve ever written is funny) Lots of your blog posts are very comical. The ones with Tadpole in them are precious!

  3. Dear Petite
I still laugh, believe it or not, at that story you told about Tadpole’s school day - trying to find out information, any information, about how it had gone and more particularly what she had to eat… I remember it ends with Tadpole saying ‘Why are you laughing, Mummy? Is it because I talking rubbish?’
I’m enjoying Marrakech, by the way.

  5. Your posts about tadpole are great, but I particularly love your observations on life in France - i.e. bureaucracy, pharmacies, office culture, French women, mating rituals, etc…. just a thought.

  6. …and then I found myself laughing in the middle of the night about Mr Frog’s cufflinks/handcuffs confusion - not suggestions, really more affirmations of your very fine writing.

  7. Your last post with the seagulls was very humorous. Really struck a chord as I have the same problem in scarborough every year.

  8. Unfortunately my blog seems to be mostly concerned with introspective navel gazing rather than witty observations on life, the universe and everything.

    I’ll buy the book though.

p.s. I’m thinking of having my head shaved for Comic Relief, after letting my hair grow for about the last year :)

  9. Thanks for the travelog. It’s great to get to “see” a place I know I will never go.

The funny post which sticks out in my mind is the one where in setting up the webcam for the office, you accidentally exposed yourself and swore, with Old School guy in attendance.

Apparently many people remember it, you just google “Petite Anglaise shows cleavage,” and voila!

    Happy Spring.

  11. Hmmm, perhaps a good idea for American expats, too. Maybe we can borrow another great British idea, like that behind the Channel 4 show “Queer as Folk”.

  14. I’m not British, I post in French and I don’t appear to have a sense of humour as I could not find a single one of my post that was even remotely funny…

    I’ll buy the book though!

By the way, which post did you pick? Or will we have to buy the book to find out?
