  10. Personally I would pay good money not to see you in pajamas! But then I suppose you’ve exposed yourself so much a little more won’t make any difference…

  16. Thanks for the shout out. Certainly feels like I shouldn’t win this award… and it is a rather dubious one.

  21. Disappointed that it’s not a picture of you, as echoed by many of your male contributors.

Very best of luck with the awards, needlesstosay, I’ve cast my vote.

Looking forward to seeing the real you in silk jimjams on winning.

  23. Hello. Interesting blog, this. Haven’t read it in a while.
Well, linguistics (Punawhat? Jimjams? Never heard about “opercules” either…), politics (like the heartfelt s-word over le petit Nicolas, simple but to the point ;-)), culture (ah, Paris, ville des lumières…) and even law (didn’t I learn a thing or two about French labour law), it’s got it all. Congrats. Keep it up. I’ll vote for you.

  26. I don’t even know how long the voting goes on for, but it’s so much fun having an excuse to put “fisting” as my google mail status for a few days.

    petite | 9:47 am

  27. Fooled me again. First I vote for you then you admit that’s not you in the pic!

    Parkin Pig | 12:36 pm

  28. I tried to spread out my votes, and therefore to share the love… So I voted for you in one category, but for others in the other categories! (Guess the whole idea of anonymous voting is shot to hell…)

    Alice | 12:52 pm

  29. can non bloggers go to the picnic too? i’d be happy to bring beers… ; )

    Donta | 3:50 pm

  30. By the looks of the tally, my vote seems irrelevant…
It would be a lie to say that I will be checking back for the sole reason of seeing if you won. In reality, I will be anxiously awaiting your promised photo :)
    Just kidding, er, sort of…

    Much luck, Petite…

    Le Meg | 5:45 pm

  32. Am disappointed that you didn’t see fit to put a good word in for Balkan Baby in the Southeastern Europe section.

Just joking, but I voted for you, so you should vote for me too!

    Balkan Baby | 1:27 am

  33. I’m really sad you’re not in “lifetime achievement” or “best writing”! I mean what are the critaeria for “best writing”?
I hope they didn’t select you there because you signed “the deal”. because so far, considering how to say things with so much “nuance”, you’re a step ahead. I did vote for your lemeg on that one because she’s also a good real life teller and writer. But I strongly think you had a place in that category.
    Regards

  34. I’ve never really *read* a blog before, ever, until now. They always seemed kind of pointless and dull but that has changed.

Petite Anglaise is now on my daily “read these” list.

    Winston | 7:51 am

  35. I just voted for you and … unlike your post … you seem to be ahead.

  36. Questions for Petite

How is the book going and are there any dates that you would put forward as to when it is coming out? Can understand you might not want to in case of delays!!!

Would you provide us with a little teaser of the books plot or a paragraph?

What date does your old (horrible) company have until to appeal? Does it look like they are going to?

I have spent the last two weeks catching up having just come across your blog - even making others do my work so that i could keep reading at work. Terrible I know! You might have answered some of the above through the comments but I had to draw the line somewhere when i was reading the blog, eventually i had to work!

    Regards
    JEssica

  37. Answers for Jessica:

Draft two of “petite anglaise” (subtitle to be confirmed) is in the hands of my editor (probably reading it right now *quake*) and I have to complete it by July 4th.

Release date for UK is currently 3 Jan 2008.

I will obviously post details about cover/blurb etc here first (and you can also join the google group at the bottom of the sidebar for news). I don’t think I’m ready to post anything more about it yet, but suffice to say that it is not blog extracts, I have completely rewritten everything so that it reads like a novel and there is a huge amount of material never seen on the blog (even though it covers territory from breakup with Mr Frog to just prior to my dismissal).

The court will apparently take 5-6 months to deliver their written decision, after which my ex-employer will have one month to lodge an appeal. So while I’m savouring my moral victory, I’m a long way from getting my hands on anything or putting it behind me.

    Hope that helps!

  38. *URGENT*

Photoshop expert needed for purposes of welding petite anglaise head onto pneumatic satin pyjama clad body just, ahem, in case.

  39. Hope you win in at least one category. Looks hopeful anyway. What a long wait for the book - you’re almost as bad as JK Rowling.

  41. count in my vote!
looking forward for your book. i hope it reaches the faraway shores of the philippines.

  42. Hello Petite. Thank you for the update re everything. Is the court judgement 5-6 months from March, or another 5-6 Months from now? In a related area, I notice that Me Eolas is in front in his category. As I do not live in France, I only read about him on your blog (plus I went and read what he said about your case). We are all behind you, of course, and continue to hope for a good result when the written judgement comes (and no appeal).
Unfortunately, Berkshire is a bit far from Paris, so will not be able to join your picnic.

  43. dave of the lake - quite the opposite. why do think that i haven’t taken any steps to pimping myself for votes ?

Thank you for answering my questions, at least you won’t have the court case dragged out for years!
